Weight : 5.70ct
Shape : Oval
Dimensions (mm) : 10.71x8.75x8.5
Color : Pale pink
Clarity : Clear to the eye and almost clear under a 10x loupe. A small inclusion at the crown that is not obvious even with a loupe.
Hardness : 7
Treatment : Kunzites are very often treated by irradiation. They are often a very deep pink, a bit garish, but not necessarily. However, natural Kunzites do exist! It is impossible to know if a stone has been irradiated, even for a laboratory. As a result, some sellers tend to take advantage of this to claim their kunzite is natural.
This one was heated. Not sure if it was irradiated.
Origin : Unknown but they generally come from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Brazil (other deposits exist).
Comment : Pretty stone of a beautiful pale pink.
Kunzite has a strong pleochroism (change in color or intensity depending on the axis of observation) clearly visible in some photos (I did it on purpose). This leads me to think that this one may not be irradiated because I find that irradiated kunzites tend to lose this pleochroism but this is a personal observation, I have not found any documentation on the subject.
A beautiful specimen for a collection or jewelry, but in this case be careful because the culet is quite deep and can be a hindrance during manufacturing.
To give you an idea of the size of the stone, the box in the photo is 3x3cm.
Price per carat : €20
