Collection: kunzite

Kunzite, a variety of spodumene, is distinguished by its tones ranging from pale pink to light purple. Its name pays homage to the famous gemologist George Frederick Kunz. The characteristic color of kunzite is attributed to the presence of manganese. It should be noted that kunzite is sometimes subjected to irradiation treatment to improve or modify its color, a process which is undetectable even to a laboratory.
