Hessonite, also known as cinnamon garnet, is a variety of garnet belonging to the grossular group. Its distinctive color ranges from orange-yellow to red-brown, evoking the warm tone of cinnamon. Hessonite often has a characteristic "syrupy" appearance which can give it a cloudy appearance, although perfectly transparent Hessonites do exist. The latter are naturally the most sought after and the most expensive.
