Citrine is the yellow variety of quartz. Its color varies from light yellow to dark yellow tending to orange, called Madeira, which is the most sought-after and expensive shade. Natural citrines exist, but the vast majority of those that can be found commercially come from heated amethysts. Natural citrines are generally quite pale.
